The List
We asked Lora to give us 5 remarkable facts about costume designing Cock and here they are!
- The costumes have to do a lot of communicating. The scenic, lighting and sound design are more abstract and sparse, so the costumes have tell us about where we are in time and space.
- The costumes are all contemporary period with a color pallet that includes warm tans, reds, yellows, toasty browns, with a few blue accents. These colors were specifically chosen because they are typical roaster plumage, as well as, they will stand out from the dark scenic elements.
- Each character is styled for their occupation, age, and personality.
- When I pull costumes from stock or go shopping, I imagine that I am the character and I’m choosing just the right outfit.
- Each show takes me between 60 -150 hours to research, discuss, design, pull, shop, fit, alter, and add final details and touches.
Cock opens March 4 and runs through March 27. Join us to see Lora Kaup’s costumes on stage. Tickets are on sale now – go to here to purchase yours today!
