If a dancing frog can sing about people losing their virginity to those with whom they have no affinity, then a composer can survive a fatal brain tumor and write a musical in response to his experiences. What are we talking about... A New Brain... the latest musical to be produced by SNAP! Productions.
A NEW BRAIN takes us on a surreal semiautobiographical tour of a songwriter`s struggle to find meaning in his life when confronted with the possibility of terminal illness. As the songwriter fights to survive, he`s supported by his lover and his neurotic best friend, doted on by his very Jewish mother, surrounded by disgruntled nurses, animated hospital staff and tormented by a sadistic frog, who is his employer. Ultimately, the songwriter finds salvation in art and music and the people around him, allowing us to see that humor and joy coexist in our darkest moments. An old story perhaps, but one that A New Brain tells with a sense of humor and generosity that lift the show and our spirits at the same time. A New Brain is musical medicine from the heart meant to inspire and encourage-and that is just what it does.
Roxanne Wach directs this absorbingly intense musical with musical direction by Rod Carlson.
