Steve Schalchlin will return to Omaha and
be present for
the October show. During his visit, Steve will be
performing special one-man show for area high
school students and youth groups.
Steve will also take part in the regular
Sunday service at North Side Christian
Church, 5555 Larimore Ave, Omaha. Following his Omaha visit, Steve is
travelling to Virginia to participate in the Rev. Mel White and Jerry Falwell
conference.
In addition to Gideon (Cory
Sanchez), the cast includes
Buddy (Ryan McGuigan);
a young hardcore Bible-spouting Christian fundamentalist with a golden voice;
Tryshia (Kathy Tyree-Lovelace), the lovely gospel-inspired singer who has
given
herself the title of Diva; Vicki (D.
Laureen Pickle), the strident,
caustic Mary Kay
saleswoman who shares a special past with Gideon; and Jim (Tom Neumann),
the dry, ironic and funny engineer in the control room. Putting it all together are
director Randy Stevens and musical director Rod Carlson.
SNAP! will re-stage the production with the original cast and crew for an eight
performance run of the show October 15,16,17,22,23,24 Fridays and Saturdays
at 8:00 p.m., Sundays at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Ticket prices are $15 general
admission. Group discounts are available. The show will again be staged at the
Frankie Pane Building, 1112 Douglas Street, Omaha.
At the 30th Annual Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards this year, The
Last Session won for Best Book, Best Music and Lyrics, Best Featured
Performer, and Best Musical Direction. The Los Angeles Times gave
The Last Session the Critic's Choice Best of 1998 Award. The show
also won the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Los Angeles
Theatrical Production.
